Wow!
What a few weeks it has been! 7048 votes in the SUBU Elections 2009, RECORD BREAKING!
Thank you to all the students, candidates and staff who helped throughout the week and period leading up to the elections, it is proof that we can gain success through teams as well as the power of big badges and mini flags!
Aside from Elections, I’ve been a busy bee helping business studies students with their Studentification projects, writing The Word and Nerve and working with the Communications Committee on planning The SUBU Awards night 2009!
The tickets for the awards are on sale now, so make sure you come and buy yours today, the £22 includes a 3 course meal, welcome drink and a night full of entertainment. We will have over 30 winners of awards on the night and you may be one of them, so don’t miss out!
I’m now focusing on the Annual Review and report which will be available in May. The Annual Review will be an afternoon/evening event in which each department will have the opportunity to display their achievements of the year. In addition to this our very successful Raising And Giving (RAG) team will be organising their cheque presentation and thank you where many local charities will be invited to attend and join in the celebrations.
And finally, after Easter I’ll be focusing on writing my Handover for Hannah who will be the incoming VP Comms from July. I am very proud of the progress the Communications department and SUBU has made this year in communicating with you, our membership and I am confident this will continue to grow year on year.
That’s all from me for now,

2009 the year of SUBU!
Hey everyone,
Hope you all had a great break and are back refreshed and ready for the term ahead.
I've been away over Christmas, went home to see family and friends but it's great to be back!
Over the last few weeks I’ve been busy busy busy with Nerve Union Pages, The Word and other printing for the new Exec Profit with Principles posters which thanks to G and Steven's help are now up and are hopefully having an impact.
I've been working hard on the Communications Approach with Gemma, Jon and G and yesterday we presented our documents to the managers of SUBU to gauge opinion and feedback. With this process now in place we will hopefully have a more structured job description and role for the new VP of Communications who will be elected in, in March and will begin their post when I leave in July (I know....sad times!)
On that note my next big project to work on with Fred and Scott is the YOUR SUBU Elections 2009! and the UGM both happening over February and March. So if you fancy running for my position please feel free to come and up and talk to me about the wonderful world that it is being Vice President Communications! (That wasn't meant to sound sarcastic I have genuinely LOVED my job this year, if you’re interested in Communications, PR, Journalism, team work and representation then this is the job for you. It’s given me such a stepping stone and a fresh outlook on life and what I want to get in to. So please don’t hesitate to ring me on 01202 965774 or email me on suvpcomms@bournemouth.ac.uk or even better, come and see me in the office (above Dylan’s Bar).
On top of that I’ll be working closely with the University to promote the National Student Survey (NSS) for final years to complete over the next few months, so if you’re leaving us in July and want to let the University now the good, the bad and the ugly about your BU experience don’t miss this opportunity.
And finally, I am working on the SUBU awards with the members of staff in the Union as this year we are combining the Clubs and Societies, Volunteering and Nerve awards into one big congratulatory extravaganza in order to bring you all together and celebrate the hard work of all our volunteers. You never know we may even have a special We Are Your Friends after party, yes that’s right you heard it hear first, so make sure you look out for the tickets in early March.
So that’s all from me for now,
It’s great to have you back,
